Kenya confirms 123 new COVID-19 cases, 54 recoveries

Kenya has confirmed additional 123 new cases of coronavirus after 2, 112 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman announced on Wednesday.

This takes the total number of cases in the country to 2, 216.

Ninety of the cases are males while 33 are females.

All are Kenyans.

The cases are from Nairobi (44), Mombasa (34), Busia (20), Uasin Ngishu (12), Kiambu (3), Kajiado (3), Nyeri (3), Garissa (1) and Laikipia (1).

The cases are between age eight and 84 years.

"On a positive note, we have discharged the largest number of recoveries in a day at 54. This now brings the total recoveries in the country to 553," Aman said.

Three more patients have died in the past 24 hours, taking the total fatalities from the disease to 74.

"Two of the deceased are from Nairobi and one is from Nyeri," he said.
