On Thursday, June 2, 2022, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka re-joined Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya coalition party, a decision that was touted by analysts as an infallible recipe for success for the coalition.

His decision which comes about two weeks after he severed ties with the coalition led by former premier Raila Odinga, will see him securing cabinet slots and a commitment of law change to create the post of a Chief Cabinet Secretary position if Odinga clinches power in the August polls.

“Kalonzo’s role will be like that of Prime Minister. Just as the one I held in the Grand Coalition Government,” Odinga stated during a rally moments after Kalonzo re-joined the coalition.

This comes as part of the deal brokered to seal his return to Azimio.

Close sources in Musyoka's camp opined that the last-minute intervention that saw the Wiper party leader who was skeptic about his slice of the national cake re-joining the Odinga-led camp was facilitated by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
