Azimio team to inspect Raila’s running mate announcement venue
A team of high-profile Azimio la Umoja leaders are set to inspect Kamukunji Grounds where Raila Odinga will be unveiling his running mate.
Under the joint chairmanship of Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan and his Makadara counterpart George Aladwa, the team will be trooping to the venue ahead of Odinga’s historic mega rally that is slated for tomorrow, May 15.
According to a press invite sent to newsrooms, Hasaan, Aladwa and other leaders will conduct the inspection at 4:00 pm.
There are high stakes and anticipations over who Odinga will go for to deputize him in the August polls.
In the list of Odinga’s possible running mates are Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Murang’a Woman representative Sabina Wanjiru Chege
Others who were interviewed by the selection panel are Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Agricultural CS Peter Munya, two-term Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and former Kenyan Ambassador to Australia Stephen Tarus.
The committee of eminent persons chaired by former Cabinet Minister Noah Wekesa locked out 13 applicants after it established that they were not fronted by Azimio One Kenya Coalition constituent parties.
The Wekesa led team fronted three names to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Odinga for consideration for the highly coveted position.
