Agriculture Cabinet Secretary (CS) Peter Munya has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta against deputy president William Ruto's killing remarks.

Speaking in Charia in Imenti Central on Saturday, July 30, Munya hit out at DP Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua accusing them of trying to cause division among Kenyans through malicious and insensitive comments ahead of the August polls.

He said the remarks made by Ruto warning the president against killing his children were divisive and inciteful terming the act as the highest degree of disrespect to his boss.

“ We all know Uhuru is not a murderer, we have never heard him linked to any murder, Infact he is the most harmless person we can ever have, we know those who can kill those who can kill, ” Munya stated.

The CS further claimed that the president has for the longest time kept his silence and forgiven his deputy and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance team despite them publicly insulting him.

“How do you even start thinking that someone can kill your children, for what benefit when he has forgiven you a thousand times for insulting and disrespecting him in public," Munya posed.

He further stated that the out burst made by Ruto and Gachagua alleging the president is intimidating and threatening them was an early sense of losing this year’s election.

“ As long as you don’t kill my children I am ready to face you head on in the election with your project Raila Odinga ,” Ruto said in a rally in Kapsabet .

His running mate Gachagua was also on record for blaming the head of state of using government institutions to frustrate and kill his political career and his businesses after his frozen Ksh200 million was seized by the court on Thursday, July 28, 2022 .

While drumming up support for the former prime minister, Munya told the residents that he (Raila) had pledged to compete all stalled projects in the area if elected adding that he is the only person who can protect both political and economical interest of the region in the next transformation .

“If you vote Raila Odinga you vote me because I being placed third in command in his government you are sure this region will benefit greatly because you know I deliver not only for the entre country but also here,

“We know some of the major project such as the dams and roads which touch the lives of the people directly in this region have stalled but Raila has promised to complete them within hundred days if elected to suceed President Uhuru,”Munya added.
