‘Please don’t shame President Uhuru’ Gatundu South MP hopeful urges residents
Jubilee Party candidate for Gatundu South parliamentary position Joyce Ngugi has appealed to locals not to disappoint President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming August general election.
Ngugi told residents that the desire of the Head of State is to see voters elect Jubilee party candidates to continue with the development projects he started in his two terms as president.
Gatundu is Uhuru's home constituency
Speaking while accompanying governor James Nyoro at Kiganjo village in President Kenyatta's home turf, Ngugi, who is seeking to succeed Moses Kuria, urged residents to rally behind the party ahead of the polls slated for August 9, 2022.
"I humbly ask you not to shame our President. He is the one we know and I beg you to vote for his preferred team of Jubilee leaders," Ngugi said.
The politician slammed her opponents for allegedly abusing her in rallies and urged locals to ignore them.
"Please don't waste your votes by voting for those insulting others. I have been looking for this position and I know we will now bring it to Kiganjo, " she added.
The Kiambu deputy governor will battle it out with other energetic and moneyed politicians who are doing everything possible to clinch the position.
Some of the candidates eyeing the seat are GG Kagombe of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and independent candidates Njinji Murigi and Kung'u Kibathi.
