Elected Nyeri leaders vow to work together

Nyeri county leaders who were elected in the just concluded election have promised to work together as a team so as to serve electorates with dedication.

Governor-elect Mutahi Kahiga, senator-elect Wahome Wamatinga and Rahab Mukami who was re-elected as the Nyeri woman Representative for a second term acknowledged that they emerged winners in the tightly contested race because electorates believed in them.

"I honour and respect the people of Nyeri because they have not let us down. Five years of gruelling work, dedication and commitment to this mother county has rendered results and we are proud that the people of Nyeri have chosen work above everything else, commitment over everything else and I'm promising them another five years of commitment, dedication and availability," Kahiga stated.

Kahiga who garnered 213,373 votes against his closest opponent Thuo Mathenge who had 81,467 votes thanked his opponents as he promised to serve them with dedication.

"I want to promise that I will serve you with dedication like I did to everyone else. The campaign period is over we forget the past and focus on the future as we develop Nyeri," he said.

He attributed his success to his family and his supporters who worked day and night to ensure that he got the second term to serve Nyeri county as a governor.

On his part, Nyeri senator-elect Wahome Wamatinga who was serving as Mathira NGCDF chairman said that he is committed to ensuring that the leaders are united in order to have a better Nyeri.

"I would want to make a personal commitment to the people of Nyeri that I want to make a difference. I want to promise them that I will start a dialogue with the other leaders so that we can work for the betterment of Nyeri," Wamatinga said.

Mukami also thanked the Nyeri people for giving her a second term to serve them.

"I'm so grateful for the Nyeri people giving me another chance to serve them and I'm promising them I will do so wholeheartedly," she said.

All the Nyeri leaders were elected on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)ticket.
