President William Ruto has stated firmly that his administration will not appoint any member of the opposition.

Speaking in Naivasha at a Kenya Kwanza parliamentary group meeting, the Head of State underscored that absorbing members of Azimio into his government will weaken the opposition.

He maintained that he wants a vibrant opposition outfit that will keep his government in check. Ruto stated that with strong opposition, he will be able to run an accountable government.

"We are not going to appoint any member of the opposition into government because we want a vibrant opposition, we want an opposition that will keep the government in check. We want to run an accountable government; we have nothing to hide," he stated.

The president further emphasized the need for lawmakers from the ruling coalition to understand government policies.

He stated that the Uhuru-led government suffered setbacks because it did not involve legislators in the execution of its plans.

"The reason why we didn't do so well in the last 5 years was that we didn't engage our legislators, our legislators knew very little about our plan. That is why we must start here, you must understand & be the ones to champion our plan for it to succeed," he said.
