IEBC identifies 3 poll violence hotspots in Mombasa
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has identified three areas in Mombasa County prone to election-related violence ahead of the Tuesday polls.

Speaking to members of the press on Sunday, August 7, Mombasa County elections manager Swalha Yusuf said the commission had mapped out Kisauni, Nyali and Likoni constituencies as hotspots.
Consequently, security has been heightened in the area to ensure the elections are not interrupted.
"The above areas have been earmarked as hotspot areas, and officers drawn from the General Service Unit (GSU) have been deployed in the above areas, in efforts to ensure the voting exercise will not be disrupted", she said.
Yusuf noted that similar teams had been deployed across the county to ensure the elections are conducted in a peaceful environment.
"However GSU officers have not only been deployed, in the 3 hotspot areas but in different parts of Mombasa since we want residents to vote without interference and that is the reason behind the enhanced security," she added.
Yusuf said she does not expect the politicians in the county to interfere with the elections in any way.
"We are giving them the first priority to vote and leave the polling stations to avoid cases of voter influence and interference," she quipped.
IEBC has already distributed election materials to various centres ahead of the polls.
