Two people were arrested after a vehicle transporting election materials was attacked in Marsabit County. Marsabit County commissioner Paul Rotich said the vehicle which was transporting election materials to Goro-Rukesa polling centre in Saku constituency was attacked on Monday night.

Rotich said that the team was attacked as they approached the polling station by suspected rowdy youths who had blockaded the road with stones and logs.

The county commissioner said that quick action by the police led to the arrest of two suspects who are helping with investigations. He added that a police officer was injured in the upper part of his right eye during the incident.

The vehicle, a Toyota Hiace on hire by the Independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC) had all its left side windows and the rear windscreen damaged.

The county commissioner warned that stern action would be taken against anybody involving themselves in acts of hooliganism.
