Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, who doubles up as the Maa spokesperson, has dispelled rumours that the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party will not have a gubernatorial candidate in the county under the alleged zoning program.

Speaking in Kajiado during the launch of the Lenku Azimio women brigade, the governor assured residents that ODM candidates are ready to face off with Jubilee counterparts in the August polls.

"Saying Kajiado has been zoned is propaganda being fueled by enemies of Azimio unity purpose and progress. I personally engaged Raila Odinga over the thorny issue of zoning. He has clarified that all ODM candidates who have been issued with nomination certificates will be on the ballot," Lenku said.

He told off Jubilee governor candidate David Nkedianye, whom he termed as a 'reject', to step down instead of concentrating on mere propaganda campaigns.

"We are seeing petty politics by people who left their parties and now investing heavily in propaganda. The panic is clear that these people have no faith in themselves and have no capacity to woo voters whatsoever. The power of who becomes the governor of Kajiado lies in the hands of voters not petty politics by people who lack leadership capacity, " Lenku said.

This comes a few days after governor Lenku and Jubilee party deputy leader in charge of programs Peter Mositet engage in a war of words over party interference.

Lenku accused Mositet of meddling in ODM issues through propaganda. Mositet however refuted the claims saying he is focused on building the Jubilee party.

Recently Nkedianye and Mositet through their close allies and bloggers claimed that Azimio la Umoja coalition will field a single governor candidate in the county.

During the meeting, the governor urged women to ignore leaders advocating for divisive politics.

He said women are key pillars in achieving the unity purpose of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.

Among key projects of empowering women that the county has managed to put in law include the women's economic empowerment, ratification of ending Female genital mutilation (FGM) policy and child protection law
