ODM’s Peter Orero floors football star McDonald Mariga in Kibra parliamentary race

McDonald Mariga has lost his second bid to become Kibra constituency's Member of Parliament.

Mariga who was contesting for the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket lost to Peter Orero who was contesting on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

In the contest, Orero trounced his competitors with 33,008 votes. Mariga came second with 20,049 followed by incumbent MP Imran Okoth who managed 18,901.

"I appreciate all the people of Kibra for having faith in me. They have given me that mandate to exercise my democratic right on their behalf. I want to thank the ODM party and the ODM party leader, Raila Odinga for having faith in me to have given me the ticket to Kibra constituency so that I represent the people of Kibra,

"I want to bring my Knowledge, skills, and the ability to serve the people of Kibra and to ensure the policies and aspirations of the Kenyan people are met," he stated.

The MP-elect also thanked his friends and family for standing by him throughout the campaign period.

He further urged the country to maintain peace ahead of the final presidential results.
