Azimio-One Kenya Coalition and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance are engaged in a tough contest for the Kakamega governor seat following the postponement of the elections now scheduled for August 29.

Outgoing Governor Wycliffe Oparanya (right), who is spearheading campaigns for ODM candidate Fernandes Barasa, is now dangling the seat of the Speaker of the County Assembly to woo more supporters.

Azimio boasts of 49 out of 60 elected MCAs. Kenya Kwanza have concentrated on the victory of Deputy President William Ruto in the presidential election in their bid to have ANC candidate Cleophas Malalah succeed Oparanya.

“We are tired of being in the opposition and I urge our people to turn out in large numbers and vote for me,” Malalah said at the weekend.
