Ruto outlines promises to Kenyan women

Deputy President William Ruto has made seven pledges to Kenyan women if elected president in the upcoming general election.

Speaking during the Kenya Kwanza women charter conference held at Nyayo Stadium, the de facto Kenya Kwanza leader pledged that his administration will be made of 50 per cent women adding that the two-thirds gender rule will be implemented within the first three months of his administration.

Ruto also promised that his administration will provide access to government procurement opportunities to ensure that all women automatically qualify for funding.

He added that his administration will establish a Ksh50 billion fund that will enable women to get credit to support their businesses.

Ruto's promises to Mothers

The second-in-command also noted that he will develop a program that will ensure teenage mothers return to school.

He also noted that all mothers in the country will gain access to health insurance by December. The DP added that all newborn babies will be given free diapers for three months if he is elected to succeed President Kenyatta.

Ruto's promise in the education sector

Further, the Kenya Kwanza presidential flagbearer averred that his government will provide free sanitary towels to all girls. He said that girls taking science-related courses in Technical and Vocational Education and (TVET) Training institutions will get bursaries.

Ruto's opinion on GBV

In addition to that, Ruto pledged to introduce a women's rights agency to protect women from Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

While addressing the issue of Gender-based violence, the presidential hopeful pointed out that the agency will be tasked with looking into issues affecting domestic workers facing mistreatment in the middle east.

He further promised that his administration will ensure that all land transactions are consented to by women.
