Former National Assembly Majority Leader and Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has urged the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati to emulate his predecessor Issack Hassan.

Duale opined that Issack Hassan oversaw the 2013 elections in a commendable manner without giving in to the pressure of the then deep state.

According to the outspoken lawmaker, Chebukati should not allow himself to be arm-twisted by the outgoing Jubilee administration.

"The ballot that you are going to cast on Tuesday is going to return the rule of law in our country, it is going to deal with the debt issue in our country, it is about the ordinary citizens and not the leaders in our country," he said.

Duale further accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using public servants to advance the agenda of his preferred presidential candidate Raila Odinga. He challenged civil servants to uphold the constitution come Tuesday next week.

"Uhuru will be a citizen, he will lose the immunity that the constitution has given him. I want to ask Ministers, and PSs to swear to defend the constitution," the legislator stated.
