Leaders allied to Azimio-One Kenya coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga have condemned Deputy President William Ruto's outburst on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Led by Raila's running mate Martha Karua, the politicians said that the Kenya Kwanza presidential flag bearer is unfit to hold office due to his continued display of anger toward his boss and civil servants.

The leaders, who witnessed the endorsement of the ODM party leader for the presidency by the Maasai community in Narok, said the DP's allegation that the president has been threatening him is an indication that he has sensed defeat in the polls slated for August 9.

Speaking at the Fifth Suswa Declaration in Suswa the politicians launched a scathing attack on DP Ruto accusing him of spearheading a calculated smear campaign to incite Kenyans.

While describing Ruto as an ill-tempered politician who should not come close to power, Karua urged Kenyans to elect mature leaders in the forthcoming polls.

The former Justice minister also warned the community against electing corrupt leaders, who she described as enemies of development.

Karua's remarks were echoed by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, MPs Junet Muhammed (Suna East), Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, trade unionist Francis Atwoli and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth

The Azimio brigade was referring to the DP's outburst in his campaign tour of Kapsabet where he told the president to leave him alone.

The DP, who is now in a vicious war of words with the Head of State, asked the president to focus on selling the candidature of Raila, and stop issuing threats to him and his Kenya Kwanza team.

“He (Ruto) should be reminded that Uhuru is not on the ballot. It is Odinga he should be facing. This bitterness and anger is all about him losing the election and there is nothing we can do to help him,” Junet said.

“The hot temper being displayed by the DP can even ‘roast a goat’ this portrays him as unfit for leadership if you hand him a vote in the next elections, as the Maa nation kindly vote for a sober team led by Raila Odinga,” said Babu Owino.

On his part, Joho accused Ruto of making reckless utterances against his boss, cautioning the DP against any attempt to plunge the country into violence.

“DP Ruto's political campaigns are quickly metamorphosing from a political event to an enclave for brewing animosity, negative ethnic indoctrination and blatant incitement by using the maligning the name of the president, we want to warn Ruto not to try inciting Kenyans," Joho said.
