State House race: Raila to campaign intensively in Mombasa as polls show Ruto gaining ground

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has pitched camp at the coast to ward off William Ruto's onslaught into his stronghold.

Raila and his Azimio brigade started their five-day tour of the coastal region on July 12, 2022 campaigning in Taita Taveta county.

So far the Azimio caravan has toured Taita Taveta, Kwale and Mombasa counties. Today Thursday, July 13 Raila will intensify his campaigns in Mombasa where he is expected to make several stopovers in the Coastal city.

Coast is a stronghold of Raila

According to the results of an opinion poll released by Infotrak on Wednesday, July 12, 2022, Raila has 21 stronghold counties, whereas Ruto has 16. There are 10 battlegrounds.

Infotrak's survey indicated that Coastal counties are Raila's stronghold even though Ruto was gaining ground in Mombasa and Tana River which were listed as battleground counties.

The survey further shows that Raila leads in all coastal counties with the exception of Tana River where Ruto enjoys a 3 per cent lead over the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.
