Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga is intensifying his campaigns in Kisumu county which is his undisputed stronghold.

Raila will be flanked by his running mate Martha Karua and other leaders allied to the Azimio coalition as he campaigns in Kisumu on August 4, 2022.

The former prime minister is expected to hold a series of rallies in the lakeside city to urge his supporters to turn out in large numbers and vote for him.

Raila's campaign in his Nyanza backyard is aimed at ensuring high voter turnout as the region always votes for him almost to a man.

Ruto complained about accessing Raila's backyard

Raila's visit to Kisumu comes just days after his fiercest rival Deputy President William Ruto cried foul claiming he couldn't campaign in Luo Nyanza.

Ruto claimed that he could not campaign in Raila's Nyanza strongholds, unlike the Azimio presidential candidate who freely campaigns in his Rift Valley backyard.

The Deputy President said he has been avoiding the Nyanza region because of the violence witnessed when he last toured Kisumu in November 2021.

Ruto's sentiments came after the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate received a warm reception during his campaign in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, on Sunday, July 31.

Thousands of residents turned up at Huruma Grounds to listen to the Azimio team sell their agenda to the electorate ahead of the forthcoming August 9 polls.
