Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Friday, August 5, 2022, vowed to teach his arch-rival deputy president William Ruto a tough political lesson during the elections slated for Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Speaking during an Azimio rally in the coastal region, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader noted that the DP has frequently hurled insults at him but next week's polls will determine who wins.

“"Sasa jamaa ambaye amezoea kunitusi. Ule Kijana amenitusi zaidi. Kwa hivyo nataka kumwambia tarehe tisa wiki ijayo tutashikana na yeye moja kwa moja. Tushikane mkono tumenyane tuone nani atashinda, tutawaonyesha jinsi ya kuongoza hii nchi,"Raila stated.

This loosely translates to:

(He has abused me for so long, but next week on Tuesday we will see who will win the election. We will show them how to govern this country)

His running mate Martha Karua further echoed his remarks stating that the DP lacked moral etiquette.

"You are abusing Mr Kenyatta, yet you want to become president; who will respect you? Correct someone in respectfully, not through insults," she said. “There is no school with two principals, one must be the deputy."Karua added.

She further asked electorates to reject Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza camp since they have no agenda for the people of Kenya.

While drumming up support for Raila, Karua reiterated that Kenyans should vote for leaders with integrity and reject those with questionable character.
