Outgoing Nairobi County governor Anne Kananu has called on Kenyans to remain peaceful regardless of who will be announced as the winner of the presidential contest.

Kananu insisted that Kenyans should remain united whether United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate William Ruto or Azimio la Umoja - OKA's flagbearer Raila Odinga wins.

On her Facebook page, Kananu who became governor after the impeachment of former city boss Mike Sonko urged Kenyans to move on with their lives.

She insisted on the need for Kenyans to remain peaceful and united for the country's social-economic development.

"There will be Kenya after the elections. Whoever is announced as the winner, let's continue with our lives as one, peaceful and united country," she posted on Facebook.

She made the remarks even as Ruto and Odinga continued to display a tight race in the provisional results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Kenyans have up to Monday next week, the seven-day stipulated period to know the country's fresh leadership for the next five years.
