A section of Nakuru residents and leaders have cast doubt on the credibility of the recently announced presidential results by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, which declared Deputy President William Ruto as president-elect.

The residents said the recent disagreements by IEBC commissioners over the result was a clear indicator that all was not well in the commission despite assuring Kenyans of a free, fair and transparent electoral process.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui expressed displeasure over the conduct of the election by the IEBC alleging there was a systematic compromise of some its officials to favor certain candidates and subvert the will of the electorate.

Kinyanjui in a statement admitted that despite it being inevitable that every election must produce winners and losers, a process entirely determined by voters, it was dumbfounding that the same was not alive in this year’s polls.

“The scale on which the electoral fraud was undertaken in the just concluded election is legendary. It makes Kenya a case study on the best practices of electoral mismanagement. There is no doubt that I in IEBC stands for incompetence,” said Kinyanjui.
