Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang'ula has now asked Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance leader Raila Odinga to concede defeat and request a peace handshake with President-Elect William Ruto.

The Bungoma Senator-elect subsequently highlighted that the handshake will not constitute a power-sharing deal but bring peace to the country.

"We want to advise our brother Raila Odinga, this is not the first time you have not won an election, this is in fact the fifth, accept that things happened the way they did, shake hands with us, not to share government but bring peace within the country so that we can be able to take the country to the next level," he stated.

Wetang'ula was speaking during a funeral service for his aide Wafula Wakoli's mother.

Raila intends to challenge election results

His sentiments come days after Raila indicated that he will challenge the election results announced by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Raila said Chebukati acted alone without involving a majority of IEBC commissioners.

"The figures announced by Chebukati are null and void and should be quashed by a court of law," Raila said during a press conference at KICC on Tuesday, August 16.

"We totally reject the results as announced by Chebukati yesterday. It is not up to us to determine if Chebukati committed illegality or not. It is up to the court to do so,"
