Sospeter Ojaamong concedes defeat in Teso South parliamentary race

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has conceded defeat in the Teso South parliamentary seat.

The outgoing governor who was contesting for the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket took to his social media to congratulate Paul Otuoma who is currently leading in the provisional results from the Busia Governors race.

"Congratulations H.E Paul Nyongesa Otuoma on being elected our 2nd County Governor. You have just begun a fantastic chapter in your life.

"The transfer of Power will be seamless, in order to get you started. In due course, I will invite you to the office of the governor for the purposes of familiarization and assumption of office under our Constitution and county government act,

"Today you embark on the greatest venture, with the greatest honour. And from this day you are now governor of all in Busia County, for those who voted and those who didn't. I salute you and wish you success and much happiness," the post reads in parts.

He further expressed gratitude to his supporters for supporting him throughout his stint as governor as well as his campaign period.

"The elections are over, but our principles will endure for generations. To my family, friends, team, and campaigners, thank you for the unwavering support during my reign and campaign period. I am inspired and humbled by your support,

“Your time, energy, resources and prayers will not go unnoticed. It was a great honour to meet and interact with many of you. You all did your best. The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die. Congratulations to you all on your various victories in this election,” he added.
