Deputy President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigade will on Wednesday and Thursday pitch tent in Marsabit county.

The presidential hopeful will begin his two-day visit to the North Eastern county with a rally in Moyale constituency before proceeding to Marsabit town.

Ruto will be accompanied by a host of his allies from the region, which is now perceived as a Raila Odinga stronghold.

On Thursday, July 7, the Kenya Kwanza presidential flagbearer will take their vote hunting mission to Laisamis constituency before proceeding to North Horr constituency.

Ruto's North Eastern tour comes against the backdrop of a back and forth with his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta. During his rallies in Meru and Tharaka Nithi, Ruto threw jibes at the Head of State after the latter accused him of absconding duty.

He also took the platform to address the ongoing national discourse about a leaked audio clip where he is heard confessing how he almost slapped President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While responding to the leaked audio clip, Ruto said he did not want Uhuru to lose the presidency to the then NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

"Even if I forced Uhuru Kenyatta to be President, is there a problem? Azimio supporters should stop this nonsense. They are spreading a recording saying that Ruto forced Uhuru to be president. If you were me, would you have accepted Uhuru to abandon us with the way we had pushed him?" Ruto posed during a political rally in Central Imenti, Meru County on Monday, July 4.

He added: "I used to wake up, hold three campaigns before the President woke up because he was my friend and there is no way I would let Raila take that seat away from him."
