Usawa Kwa Wote party leader Mwangi Wa Iria has said Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya party presidential candidate Raila Odinga reached out to him extending an invitation for him to join the coalition.

Wa Iria said Odinga called him after seeing his tribulations with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which barred him from vying for the presidency.

He claimed that his opponents colluded with IEBC to have him frustrated and denied a chance to contest for the topmost seat.

Speaking at Mumbi grounds in Murang'a, the county head said Odinga called him and they had a three-hour long private meeting, discussing how they are going to join hands.

"All other candidates were celebrating when I failed to secure my bid but Odinga is the one who called me to know what was going on," he said.

"He told me there is room in Azimio and we could work together as a team in forming the next government," Wa Iria added.

The governor said he was willing to start an opposition movement with his party but Odinga advised him not to.

"He told me nothing or no one should stop my political journey and what I experienced is nothing compared to what he has gone through in his quest to lead the country.

"That is why I opted to join Azimio because there was someone willing we join hands and move together, "he remarked.

The governor said they agreed to merge their manifestos to drive the development agenda of the country.

"My main agenda was to improve the household economy and one home one cow and we now have the cash transfer from the vulnerable families which would come in handy," he said.

Wa Iria also said he will aid in selling the Azimio agenda in the Mt.Kenya region adding that he will rally his supporters to vote for Odinga during the polls.

"I have over 600,000 voters in Murang'a and more votes from other parts of the country because my party is national," he said.

"We will do intense campaigns to ensure we deliver a win for Odinga for him to become the next president," he added.
