Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to stop counting votes in the county over alleged malpractices.

Waiguru who is battling it out with Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici in a tight race decried an alleged stuffing of marked ballot boxes at Kianyaga polling station through the back door.

Waiguru who made a post on her Facebook page on the alleged rigging regretted that the malpractice that, according to her, included the illegal addition of two governor's ballot boxes was being done in broad daylight.

"Rigging in broad daylight. Two ballot boxes with the governor's ballots enter Kianyaga through the back door in broad daylight. They must be removed and counting must stop, " she told IEBC.

Waiguru, the UDA candidate is seeking to defend her seat while Ngirici, an independent candidate is making her first stab in the race.
