4 senior positions Peter Kioko held before becoming NBK MD
On Monday, June 13, 2022, the National Bank of Kenya (NBK) announced the appointment of Peter Kioko as the new acting managing director.
Kioko who currently serves as the Director, Finance and Strategy at NBK was apointed to fit the shoes of Paul Russo, who was last month appointed as the Kenya Commercial Bank CEO following the exit of Joshua Oigara.
Here are five senior positions that Peter Kioko has held previously:-
NBK director for finance and strategy
Peter Kioko joined the lender in 2016 and has been serving as the director for finance and strategy, a position he continues to hold even as he serves as the new acting managing director. He has worked in the position under two diefferent MDs, the outgoing Paul Russo and the former MD Wilfred Musau.
EABL
He previously worked at East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) as the head of risk and audit before becoming its finance director.
In most companies, the head of risk and audit is tasked with continuously ensuring internal control systems, risk management and governance, procedures and policies with a view to minimize risk exposure for utilization of assets and other resources.
Stanbic Bank
Kioko worked at Stanbic Bank as the finance manager - corporate and investment banking. A finance manager is tasked with the financial resources of a company, is responsible for the budget planning, and supports the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.
Kenya Shell/BP Limited
He also worked at Kenya Shell/BP Limited as the group financial controller, a position almost similar to that of a finance manager.
