The manufacturing sector has received a major boost after a Sh1 billion cable manufacturing company was officially launched in Isinya.

The company, Masai Cables, will offer 800 direct jobs and create hundreds of indirect ones.

Masai Cables will manufacture a range of wires including domestic, aluminum, armored, submersible and flexibles.

Speaking during the official launch, production and quality assurance manager Kiplang’at Chelule urged stakeholders to use quality raw materials in manufacturing to enhance safety in the use of electrical appliances.

Quality product

“The construction industry in the country is booming and it is important to ensure safety for the millions of occupants by prioritising use of quality electric cables,” said Chelule.

Marketing director Prashant Bambhorikar said frequent fires can be significantly reduced if quality of cables and proper wiring is done.

“Some 60 to 65 per cent of deaths caused by fire occur from suffocation caused by smoke. We have heavily invested in technology to manufacture smoke-free cables to avert choking when fire occurs. The cables detect fire and easily goes off when put off at one point,” said Bambhorikar.

Masai cables chief executive and chairman Amit Tiagi said the company will go a long way in supporting the Big Four agenda especially manufacturing.

“The government has given investors a relatively friendly environment to invest in supporting development and creating employment,” said Tiagi.
