Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Lindah Kiyeng. I am a 27 years old entrepreneur, entertainer and public relations practitioner based in Nairobi, Kenya. My company is called Lindah Kiyeng Communications

Why did you choose this career path?

Because I realized it is something that I am drawn into. It has always been a field that fascinated and intrigued me. Originally, my parents wanted me to do Information Technology (IT), but I ended up dropping out of it and pursued public relations and media.

Which aspects of public relations and media do you love?

I love media relations aspect. I like when I see people realize their dream. When I help them get there, it gives me a sense of fulfillment that I cannot describe.

When did you decide to pursue this career path?

I always loved things related to media and when I dropped out of IT course, I jumped into it immediately. I am now into it full time.

How do you manage to get clients and make sure that they are satisfied with your services?

I have developed the art of identifying my potential customers. I have gained a lot of experience in it. I always make sure that my clients get exactly what they want or even more.

What has been the highlight of your career?

I have been blessed and privileged to work with so many people whom I love and admire. I have met and worked with legislators, diplomats and many dignitaries. It has been my privilege to work with these people.

What are some of the challenges you've faced?

I had to be really patient with myself and the business so that I could perfect my skills. I did not make any profit for three years and there were some people who always discouraged me and it would never work, but I am grateful I stuck to my guns and now it is more profitable than I ever imagined.

Who is your role model and who do you look up to?

My role model is my mother Rossy Keitany she has always been my ride or die and believed in me more than I believed in myself. Her support for me is immeasurable.

What drives you?

My daughter Leilani Bett. She makes me wake up very early to hustle. When you have a kid ambition hits you differently cause you have someone looking up to you. I want the best for her and that keeps me going every day.

What do you love doing during your free time?

I love hanging out with my family, swimming, singing, entertaining and reading motivational books.

What is your favourite quote?

Find the highest, grandest vision of yourself because you become what you believe.

What are some of the lessons you have learnt on your journey to success?

Find what you love is always the first rule and once you find what you love work hard to be the best in your field.

What is your advise to young people?

Do not rush. In life, there is no timetable of what you need to do. Take your time. Find out who you are and what you are born to do and do it. Take your time to figure it out.
