In December 2019, EPRA adjusted the price of petrol at Sh109.50. The new price for January 2020 has been set at Sh110.20.

"Taking into account the weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products, the changes in the maximum allowed pump prices are as follows; Super Petrol increases by Sh0.70 per litre," announced EPRA.

EPRA added that the increase in petroleum prices was necessitated by changes in imports.

Appreciation of the US Dollar against the Kenyan Shilling was also attributed to the increase of petroleum prices, according to EPRA.
