The national carrier, Kenya Airways, has said it is ready to cooperate with investigative agencies following allegations of graft in procurement of aircraft engines.

This is after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) demanded KQ provide documents to facilitate investigations into procurement of services for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft engines.

"Kenya Airways welcomes the investigation by the DCI and we are engaging with the team to provide the necessary support and information," the statement reads in part.

The DCI last week wrote to Kenya Airways seeking to be furnished with documents for investigations into procurement flaws in an aircraft engine repairs contract.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wants the airline’s procurement guidelines since 2015 and procurement plan for the financial years 2017/18 – 2018/19.

The national carrier has lost close to Sh100 billion in 10 years.
