State told to complete key fish landing ports

Blue economy players have asked the government to fast-track completion of key fish port landings and industrial ports at the coast to maximise benefits from the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Indian Ocean.
Government is implementing about Sh10 billion blue economy projects in the five coastal counties, to boost earnings from the sector, among them fish landing ports and harbors in the quest to tap into the untapped sector.
Speaking on the sidelines of a training for fishermen on blue economy, in Mombasa convened by the World Wide Fund WWF, Tuna Fisheries Alliance of Kenya chairman Hadley Becha said delays of completion of the projects has continued to haunt Kenyan fishermen.
