The government has announced a raft of measures meant to centralise all strategic government communications.

In a circular to ministries, State departments and agencies (MDAs), the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua said the information will be sanctioned for public consumption by the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat and the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU).

“To assure propriety in furtherance of this objective, the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat and the Presidential Delivery Unit will jointly audit all public institutions quarterly,” said Kinyua adding that MDAs will be required to submit evidence of compliance within 15 days of the end of each quarter.

The circular was copied to the attorney general, all cabinet and principal secretaries as well as chairpersons and chief executive officers and state corporations.

Significant strides

Kinyua said despite the government making significant strides and considerable achievement towards the realisation of Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the Big Four agenda, resources allocated for communication supplies across MDAs continued to be sub-optimally expended, thus compromising the intended strategic objective.

The intended measures, he said, will “assure a singular framework on the articulation and packaging of government information in a synergised approach.”

Kinyua said all the messaging will make reference to Kenya Vision 2030 and the Big Four agenda priorities, while all advertisements and public communication will bear the logos Kenya Vision 2030, the Big Four agenda and the institutional logo.

“As part of the framework objective and to ensure efficiency and appropriate referencing, all advertisement and public communications shall be edited, curated and compartmentalised under the appropriate Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat and Presidential Delivery Unit for subsequent dissemination by the Government spokesperson or the MDA, as the case may be,” the Head of Public Service said.
