Kenyan investors have been urged to tap Poland’s high quality and cheaper technology as the EU member seeks to deepen trade and bilateral relations between the two countries.

The long-time trade partners have been encouraged to leverage on their relationship to deepen economic ties by taking advantage of each other’s strength.

Speaking in Nairobi yesterday Marcin Przydacz, deputy minister in the Polish government foreign affairs docket, said since Poland imports coffee and tea from Kenya and exports wheat to Kenya, it is about time to deepen the relationship by leveraging on technology.

Trade numbers

In the first seven months of this year Polish exports amounted to $26.5 million (Sh2.7 billion) while Kenya exported $34.3 million (Sh3.4 billion).

Speaking during an economic trade forum with Kenyan manufacturers yesterday, Marcin asked Kenya to tap the affordable and high quality European technology the country offers in agriculture and ICT solutions.

“We have been working closely with Ethiopia in agricultural machinery, medical machinery and medicine and tourism,” he said.

During a tour of Ndumberi Dairy Cooperative Society facility in Kiambu, Marcin, who is responsible for international development cooperation, said Poland was impressed by the positive steps Kenya has taken towards improving dairy farming.

He said his government would do everything possible to help improve the lives of Kenyans through donation of the requisite entrepreneurial and economic growth inputs.
