PrideInn Hotels yesterday took over the management of Azure Hotel to strengthen its presence in Nairobi region.

Following the change of management, the hotel will  be known as PrideInn Azure, to bring the number of PrideInn hotels brand to nine.

PrideInn managing director, Hasnain Noorani, said the group has taken over management of the hotel from the Azure Hospitality Group on a revenue-sharing basis with a possibility of fully acquiring it within the course of this year.

The new management contract will see the two investors use profits to strengthen the operational efficiency of the PrideInn Azure in line with world-class best practices that suit the local market.

“This hotel will act as a boost for the local and international businesses. With 165 luxurious rooms and 11 modern conference rooms, PrideInn Azure has now increased PrideInn Groups room capacity, making it one of the largest local hospitality chains in terms of capacity,” said Noorani.

Beach resort

The PrideInn Azure deal comes barely two years after it acquired another beach resort in Shanzu, Mombasa.

The group is now banking on growing its revenues and expanding the chain by opening acquiring more facilities across counties using the management contract model.

Despite the new development, hospitality industry in Nairobi is believed to be doing badly with some hotels such as Southern Sun Mayfair closing shop because of stiff competition from new international players, as well as tough economic times.

The recently released tourism sector performance 2019, however, gives a different picture as it shows that last year there was an increase in international arrivals from 2,025,206 in 2018 to 2,048,334. A number of bed nights sold also increased.
