Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey is likely to spend between three and six months in Kenya when he returns to Africa this year, Cellulant CEO Ken Njoroge says.

Dorsey toured Africa in November last year, where he made stopovers in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Ethiopia on a listening tour.

And before he departed he said he would return in 2020 to live somewhere on the continent for up to six months.

On where Dorsey will live, Njoroge thinks Kenya is a must, given its position as one of the top countries in the world for mobile-money adoption.

“Coming to live in the ecosystem is a good thing…it’s the best way to really understand…and get the nuances of business in Africa,” he told Techcrunch, an American online publisher focusing on tech industry.

Njoroge said Kenya’s success with M-Pesa and other fintech stories favour it as a case study for the CEO.

Cellulant currently processes payments in more than 35 African countries. Dorsey did not disclose where exactly he would be living in Africa.

“Not sure where yet, but I’ll be living here for three to six months mid 2020,” he Tweeted from Ethiopia. Spokespeople from both Twitter and Square declined to comment on what his plans will be.

Those who spoke to him said that he was mainly interested in Bitcoin and money transfer, saying internet needs its own currency.

“I think the internet will have a native currency and anything we can do to make that happen we’ll do,” he said in an earlier interview.
