Vivo eyes share of fast food franchise, KFC

The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has approved proposed investment in Kuku Foods Ltd by Vivo Energy Investments without conditions.

Vivo is a Shell licensee in Africa, distributing and marketing shell-branded fuels and Lubricants. 

Vivo also deals in liquefied petroleum gas as well as marine and aviation fuel.

Kuku Foods, incorporated in Kenya, is in the fast food restaurant business which operates outlets franchised from American food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC).

Vivo Energy Investments and Kuku Foods Ltd business activities will not overlap but complement each other since fast food outlets can be set up in petroleum retail outlets.

Kuku Foods has 24 outlets in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Nanyuki. 

Its largest clientele is the youth, including teenagers and young children.
