Five years after the death of Kenyan Jazz Musician and former Tusker Project Fame Principal Achieng' Abura, her son Prince has been pronounced dead at 28.

In a message sent to members in a manga group, and seen by People Daily, the chairperson wrote;
"Today I announce with a humble heart the passing on to the glory of Prince Abura in his sleep, I just want to thank all who supported this worthy cause, he was to graduate at Riara University in September."

Before Achieng Abura's death, details emerged of her son and his battle with sickle cell. In an Engage talk shared online Achieng described Prince as her best friend.

She also shared the struggles of Prince as a child, saying Prince has been a bright child who took on challenges and was determined to fight. In the talk, she also revealed that in 2011 a doctor said that her son only had five months to live after medical records showed he had a weak valve in his heart. This condition Achieng revealed run in the family as her mother, grandfather, brother, and sister all succumbed to this illness.

Achieng had set up an online fund for her son, for his medical treatment which was to be done in the UK.

The chairperson in charge of the fundraiser later announced that the treatment abroad would not take place, citing that the hospital required him covered by the National Health Service.

Achieng’s son has had to endure several battles from birth. First, it was the sickle cell which he has so far handled like a champion.
