The world sat stage front when Michelle Obama accompanied her husband, the 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama, as he went on about his presidential duties.

With the extensive coverage, many people thought they knew the real Michelle, but it seems they were wrong.

After Obama’s tenure ended, Michelle penned her autobiography, Becoming,  ranked one of the best in 2018 and one that unveiled things many people did not know about the first black first lady.

Soon after, as is the tradition, a book tour commenced, with the author going to 34 cities in the US. She sat down with various interviewers to talk about her book.

That was the focus of a Netlix-released documentary, Becoming, which gives behind the scenes take of the popular book tour.

From the film, we see the kinds of preparations, the anxieties and the work that went behind the tour.

All through, we see a Michelle Obama that many knew, charismatic, kind and inspirational.

It also unveils the layers of decisions, choices that she had to make.  We also get a snippet of the people she has worked with and her family— including rare interviews of her daughters Malia and Sasha— and what they think about her.

As much as it is an endearing, even tear-jerking film, the information is not as new for those who have read her autobiography.

Fortunately, it enhances the experience of the book— even when she makes some comments that makes you do a double take.  Verdict: Highly recommended!
