Harmonize in trouble with Kenyan producer

Wednesday, November 13th, 2019 16:54 | By

Kenyan music producer Magix Enga is all fists out with Tanzanian Bongo sensation Harmonize for "stealing" his beats for his latest song, Uno.

Magix claims that the beats for the song were lifted from King Kaka’s song, Dundaing, which was produced under his production house, Magix’s Production.

In an Instagram post, Magix told Harmonize to take down the song within a week or face unspecified consequences.

He wrote: “Like nothing happened @harmonize_tz Gat some free beats for you bro… I’m giving you 1 week take down the song otherwise… Natoa mwenyewe. Let me put it in Swahili so that you can understand what I’m trying to say.”

The producer also revealed that he has had his beats lifted before, but he vowed not to let this one pass. “It took me a day to come up with the Vibe G you get. #BeatKing254? This s** has happened before but this time things will be different… I’m not going to allow that to happen not in 254 (sic),” he added.

Although Harmonize or his manager are yet to comment on the issue, Uno, which was released two weeks ago, has garnered more than 2.3 million views on YouTube.

Fans, on the other hand, seem to have their own view as some have openly said that it is a none issue, while others have accused the Magix of also stealing beats from other Nigerian artistes.

Harmonize recently fell out with Diamond Platnumz-owned Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) music label and word on the street is that he was slapped with a Sh22-million (Tsh500 million) bill for breaching his 15-year contract with WCB.
