Has podcasting influenced your fashion in any way?

I started being a podcast co-host last year. I will not necessarily say it affected my fashion sense, but being a YouTuber on the other hand, which I started in 2017, certainly affected my fashion sense.

This is because it is a visual platform, so you have to try your best to look good. How you dress for every video is the way your audiences tend to perceive of you.

How can you define your personal style?

I think my personal style has evolved over time. We live and learn, I say. I cannot compare how I used to dress in 2017 with how I dress now.

The evolution is major! I am informed by the prevailing fashion trends and tend to mix and match till I get something that resonates with me.

This means that I have to try and keep up with the latest trends sometimes. I would, therefore, describe my style as a bit of classy, but chic.

What does fashion and image mean to you?

They are forms of expressing oneself. I find that you can control how people perceive you simply by the way you dress.

Fashion and image is, therefore, important to me; I love looking good. I believe that looking good is one way of boosting your confidence.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?

I draw my inspiration mainly from Pinterest and my sister Rishane. Pinterest is a must have app for everyone. I basically just use it as a guide to mix and match the pieces I already have.

Who are your fashion idols?

There are so many people I look up to in terms fashion, but if I start naming them, we will be here all day.

So, let me name just a few. Joy Kendi, Mihlali, Kefilwe and Beyoncé are top of my list.

What do you consider your best fashion buy?

This has to be my thigh high boots, because they make any outfit pop. They add a bit of class and sass to anything I pair them with. I don’t wear them often enough though. Just once in a while.

What can’t you leave the house without?

I can’t leave the house without my lip-gloss. You have to keep your lips hydrated because you never know what could happen (chuckles).

Also, chapped lips are not the best of fashion statements no matter how tastefully adorned you are.

What is the one fashion item that everyone should own?

Everyone should own at least a pair of blue jeans. I mean, they just go with everything!

I also think a leather jacket is a must have too. You throw it on with any outfit and you automatically add a layer of class.

One fashion item that should never see the light of day…

Kitten heel crocs. I saw them some time back on Twitter. Atrocious!

What are your thoughts on scent and which is your favourite?

Scent is important. I believe it’s that extra boost to your confidence. On top of looking good, you have to smell good.

I have a couple of favourite scents that I wear depending on mood and day. Decadence by Marc Jacobs and Good Girl by Carolina Herrera are my favs.

Can tattoos be viewed as accessories?

Tattoos can definitely be viewed as accessories. However, not every tattoo has to have a story behind it.

I think some people drag that stereotype a bit too far. I have tattoos that I am in love with today as much as I was on the day I got them.

Give us a piece of fashion advice.

You don’t have to go to high-end clothing stores in order to dress well. Thrifting is good and you can find a variety of clothes.

If you pair them well, you are good to go. High prices are not equivalent to a high fashion sense; so do not break the bank to look good. Dress well, but within your budget.
