BBI will sail through – Mike Sonko
Ex-Nairobi county governor Mike Sonko says the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) will sail through tomorrow when the Supreme Court of Kenya will make its ruling.
Sonko says he heard about the major development that will set a new political tone in the country.
He made the remarks even as anxiety continued to grip political bigwigs ahead of the judgment.
"Imagine naskia ati BBI kesho inapita..(Imagine I hear that BBI will sail through tomorrow)," Sonko posted on his official Facebook account today.
The initiative that was set to unite Kenyans following years of disorder every electioneering period was declared unconstitutional, null and void by the Court of Appeal in August last year.
The initiative was championed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his newly found friend ODM party leader Raila Odinga in an effort to cure recurrent chaos that occurs every electioneering period.
The initiative that would have seen the country enter a referendum process and ultimately create 70 new constituencies to facilitate equitable distribution of resources also saw the temporal end in a plan to increase government positions.
