Kwale governorship aspirant Hamadi Boga received a major boost after key campaigners for his rival engineer Lung’anzi Chai defected to his camp.

The over 150 campaigners who defected to Boga’s camp hail from Msambweni constituency.

Boga has intensified his campaigns against his opponents Chai and Kwale county assembly speaker Sammy Ruwa ahead of ODM party nominations set to be in early April.

Almasi Dona, chair of the team that ditched Chai, said after thorough political survey in the area they concluded Boga was the most popular on the ground.

“Boga is very popular in the area and therefore because my team and I want to be in part of the winning team we decided to change our minds and join Boga”s campaign team before the party primaries,”  said Fatuma Mwamaneno.

“That other team does not have a campaign strategy beyond party primaries,’’ Mwamaneno said.

Speaking to journalists yesterday in Diani during an interview Boga said he was ready to take on his party opponents during the primaries.

“Today I’m very happy to receive this team to my camp and I continue to welcome others, who are also interested in joining this winning team, and as we prepare for party primaries I want to tell my opponents that am well prepared to take on you both and I want to assure them I will grab the party ticket,” said the former Agriculture Principal Secretary.
