Head of the Presbyterian Church Reverend Thegu Mutahi yesterday called for political tolerance in the post-election period.

Mutahi said there is need for Kenyans to embrace each other regardless of the political side they belonged to or supported for the country to move forward.

Reverend Thegu observed that people have been mocking those, who lost in the just-concluded polls, a move he says is not acceptable.

“There is a bigger number that lost elections than those that won. Please, be gracious and kind to those who lost because they will not leave this country,” he said.

Speaking yesterday, Mutahi also urged those in the Opposition to stop the stampede as they rush to join the incoming Government for legitimacy.

“Those in Opposition must not rush to be in government because we need them to watch over it. It is neither sinful nor criminal to be in the Opposition but it is sinful to be in government for purposes of fulfilling one’s selfish needs,” he said.

Meanwhile, while congratulating President-Elect William Ruto, Mutahi urged him and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua not to fancy political fanfare through homecoming parties but to immediately get to work. “We will pray for you as President and support you. Kindly get to work and deliver to Kenyans. There is the cost of living to fix and a dilapidated economy to uplift,” he said.
