Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has asked retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to call President William Ruto and congratulate him on his win in Presidential polls in August 2022.

Speaking on Sunday, Nyoro also asked the retired President to keep off active politics

"Respect the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act, and lead by example. I am not qualified to give you advice, but please call your successor President Ruto and congratulate him. Also resign from political parties," Nyoro said.

This comes moments after Uhuru, who is the Jubilee Party leader, announced a new venue for the party's National Delegates Conference (NDC) amid wrangles in the party.

Uhuru said the party delegates will convene at Ngong Race Course and not Bomas of Kenya as earlier announced.

The party is divided in the middle, with one faction supporting President Ruto while the other wing is in support of the retired President.

Uhuru on Ruto Presidency

In August 2022, Uhuru announced that he would hand over power to Ruto but declared he would only recognize Raila Odinga as his leader.

“I will hand over power smiling because it is constitutional. Aluta continua but I will leave knowing Raila is my leader,” Uhuru said in 2022.

The retired President had made it clear that he preferred Odinga to succeed him but he lost the election to Ruto.

“Don’t think that you have denied Raila, You have denied yourself the opportunity of bringing the country together,” he said last year.
