Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe now says Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga will win the August 9 presidential election even without the support of Mount Kenya region.

Murathe said the region's residents will have to decide whether they want to be part of the next government or not because Raila will "win" anyway.

"Raila is winning this election with or without the votes of the people of Mount Kenya. They better decide whether he is winning it with them onboard or without them," Murathe said on a local television station on Tuesday.

Murathe claimed Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta almost shared 50 per cent each of the votes cast in 2013 and that the former Prime Minister had no support from the Kikuyu community then.

"If he gets 10 per cent, or 20 per cent or 30 per cent of 40 per cent from the region, those are votes he did not have anyway. The rest of his votes are intact," he said.

The former Gatanga MP also downplayed Musalia Mudavadi's influence in Western Kenya, saying he will not bring any vote for Deputy President William Ruto.
