Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto, accusing him of anchoring his campaigns on being against President Uhuru Kenyatta's projects.

In the latest development, Ruto promised to scrap the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) if he becomes the President. According to Ngilu, the promise is anti-Uhuru, and should not be entertained.

"Isn’t it possible to implement your agenda or improve anything without necessary being ANTI-UHURU?" Ngilu tweeted.

Ruto has also promised a raft of measures that will see some of the policies and projects implemented by President Uhuru's government reversed, among them the transfer of Kenya Ferry Services operations to the Kenya Ports Authority.

Ruto has also vowed to return port operations to Mombasa from the Inland Container Deport in Embakasi, Nairobi and Naivasha.

Ruto, while speaking in Bungoma, also promised to stop the government from bailing out struggling state companies, and also write off their debts.

“We’ve put money in Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories but we’ve not succeeded in finding a solution for the woes in the sector. As the government of Kenya Kwanza,as our first role in the first 100 days, we will write off all debts these factories owe to the government. We will bring back the balance sheet of Mumias and Nzoia to zero,” DP Ruto said.

Ruto is also looking to remodel the Managed Equipment Services (MES), whereby counties pay Ksh100 million per year to hire equipment from the National Government.
