Kiambu governor hopeful Patrick Wainaina now wants voters to only elect persons with zero corruption history for substantial development to be realized in the vast county.

Wainaina said, for instance, the next Kiambu governor should head a clean government based on proper work ethics and integrity.

While vowing to construct 1000 kilometres of tarmac road in the county once he assumes office, Wainaina said, the county will undergo an unimaginable transformation for the betterment of livelihoods.

"The roads will be in addition to 20,000 street lights to transform Kiambu into a 24-hour economy region," he added.

He revealed that since he assumed office as Thika MP, about 62-kilometres of tarmac roads have been done.

"We thank God for the success. We also thank KURA for listening to us! This really uplifts our local economy by a lot," he added.

Wainaina will face stiff competition from former governor William Kabogo, incumbent governor James Nyoro, Senator Kimani Wamatangi, lecturer and former county CEC Juliet Kimemia and Kiambu County Assembly speaker Stephen Ndichu.

While he has not officially announced, all signs indicate that Wainaina will battle it out as an independent candidate after dropping his aspirations to use the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
