Elect president of your choice, Governor Kiraitu now tells Meru residents
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has told his supporters to vote for either William Ruto or Raila Odinga in the upcoming general election.
Murungi said he did not care who would become president because he is only interested in retaining his governor seat.
"Choose a president of your choice. If you elect Ruto, he will give Kiraitu money for Meru. If you elect Raila, he will give money to Kiraitu to develop Meru. What's the contention for?" He posed.
Kiraitu is seeking to retain his seat on Devolution Empowerment Party popularly known as Mbus.
Last month, Kiraitu agreed to back Raila for the 2022 top seat.
“I had a discussion with Raila and he promised to uplift our agriculture. He also promised to work on the about 102 stalled state projects and start new ones,” Kiraitu told over 500 party delegates in an event attended by Raila in Meru on March 9.
He further told the delegates that Mount Kenya East deserved a share of government after August 9 polls.
“Our people do not want to be in opposition and that is why we have decided to join Azimio," he said.
