KANU national chairman Gideon Moi has revealed that there are many leaders from various parties who have shown interest in joining his party ahead of the August polls.

Speaking at his private office, where he received Wajir Governor Ahmed Ali Mukhtar and several of his supporters to KANU, Moi revealed that there are several leaders from various political parties who have reached out to him in confidence expressing their desire to join his party.

Due to the willingness of several leaders to join his party, the Baringo Senator said that KANU will field candidates in all the political seats in various regions across the country. He expressed confidence that the KANU candidate will win the elections.

“We are back to business as KANU and 2022 is business unusual for us. We will field candidates in all positions, particularly in Wajir and Garissa and we are going for nothing less than victory,” said Moi.

Governor Muktar revealed that he intended to defend his gubernatorial seat on a KANU party ticket.

The governor argued that the people from the North-Eastern counties - Wajir and Garissa - consider KANU as their home and are ready to vote into office its candidates.

"I have today joined the Independence party, KANU and I will seek the mandate of the people of Wajir in 2022 through this party," the governor said.
