Farmers Party has now joined Kenya Kwanza alliance as a principal member.

In a statement on Wednesday, the party Secretary General Paul Kahura said the alliance believes in uplifting the farmers of this country who form a large voting block.

"The Farmers Party firmly believes in having farmers first, and after lengthy and deep deliberations with the Deputy President William Ruto, we are assured that Kenyan farmers stand a better chance in Kenya Kwanza," he said.

Kahura said the party chairman Irungu Nyakera has been tasked to ensure critical party policy positions on agriculture in Kenya are achieved, understood and accepted across the coalition.

"2022 is a critical year for farmers and the party is committed to seeing the gains that have been made in the tea and coffee sector preserved and implemented in order to improve and guarantee better earnings to farmers," the SG added.

Nyakera is running for Murang'a governor seat.
